Monika Hadisfar, Counsellor & Psychotherapist
Experience
As a compassionate integrative therapeutic practitioner, I wholeheartedly embrace a person-centred approach, collaborating with clients to create sessions that truly reflect their unique experiences and aspirations. With a strong sense of cultural sensitivity, I cultivate a warm and safe environment that nurtures self-awareness, confidence, and compassion.
I draw from a rich reservoir of experience supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds, addressing an array of concerns — including enhancing communication skills, navigating personal and family dynamics, managing daily stress, and coping with anxiety, as well as clinical conditions like BPD and OCD traits. I am bilingual and fluent in both English and Persian (Farsi).
I strongly believe in the universal benefits of therapy, particularly when conducted in a supportive environment. My sessions are compassion-based and client-directed. This empowers clients to explore their thoughts, emotions, and challenges at their own rhythm, making the therapeutic journey not only personal and meaningful, but also a pathway to lasting transformation and growth.
Areas of Focus
Support for Carers
I have particular experience working with family carers and individuals supporting loved ones navigating chronic illness, disability, dementia, or mental health difficulties. Caring often carries an enduring emotional weight that goes largely unacknowledged — chronic fatigue, anticipatory grief, complicated family dynamics, and profound guilt around having needs of your own. In our sessions, therapy provides a confidential, dedicated space where you are not the person responsible for holding everything together — a place to process caregiver strain, establish healthy boundaries without guilt, and prioritize your own well-being.
Working Through Loneliness
Loneliness is a named area of focus in my practice, not just an incidental concern. It is a deeply painful human experience that is distinct from physical solitude — frequently felt as a persistent sense of disconnection, being unseen, or believing that your inner life cannot be safely shared with others, even when surrounded by family, colleagues, or an active social circle. Together, we work to understand the roots of that isolation without judgement, explore self-protective patterns that may keep others at a distance, and cultivate a stronger foundation of self-acceptance and genuine interpersonal connection.
Life Transitions & Feelings of Overwhelm
Navigating significant life transitions is a central part of my work with adults. Major turning points — whether a career change, unemployment or redundancy, the end of a relationship, bereavement, parenthood, or relocating to a new country — can fundamentally disrupt your familiar rhythm and sense of identity. Even positive transitions can bring unexpected anxiety and feelings of overwhelm when established anchors fall away. I offer an anchored, steady space to process uncertainty, untangle competing demands, and rebuild grounding as you find your footing in a new chapter.
Childhood Trauma in Adult Life
Early painful experiences and relational trauma frequently continue to ripple into adulthood — showing up as chronic self-doubt, hypervigilance, difficulty trusting others, or recurring patterns in relationships that feel hard to break. Drawing on person-centred principles, I help clients safely examine how past experiences continue to affect adult emotions and behaviours, processing unresolved pain gradually and at a pace that feels safe for your nervous system.
